The Orion at Lumino Park in Calgary, AB, was recently recognized as one of the most innovative MultiFamily projects in North America.
This building used the Superform brand ICF system. In presenting the award, judges cited the complexity of the design, the striking architecture, and the challenges the construction team overcame to set a new standard for the entire ICF industry. This purpose-built apartment building is designed with 100,000 square feet of apartment living space over 16 floors.
Kanas aimed for Gold BuiltGreen status, but exceeded expectations, receiving Platinum. With upgrades such as energy sensors being used to monitor its energy efficiency and exterior noise reduction, this building was also awarded Most Outstanding Commercial Project in 2020..

This ICF building houses ten rental units within its three floors, each floor 10’ high, built upon a 14’ high parkade, all constructed with Logix ICF.
This is a purpose-built rental building that includes heat and water in the monthly rent. The lower energy and operating costs realized due to the Logix ICF construction allow the owner to profitably offer monthly rents that are about 10% less than the current market rate.

In 2019, Kanas was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award, from the Calgary Residential Rental Association (CRRA), for it’s commitment to providing sustainable rental properties to the community.

In 2015, Kanas built the 80,000 square foot service centre with 45 hoists, two car wash bays, two oil lube lanes, roof-top parking, radiant heat throughout, waste oil boilers, and provision for third-floor parking. Kanas contributed cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, install tenant equipment (hoists and air barriers), EIFS cladding and all miscellaneous steel and concrete.

Kanas was a Finalist for the 2008 Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) Award of Excellence. While Kanas wasn’t awarded the distinction, even being considered was an honour amongst the competition.
